REGIONAL SALES MANAGER – WEST COAST

NIDEC-SHIMPO CORPORATION

 
The overall responsibility of the person in this position will be to develop and expand business opportunities with OEM, distributor and strategic end user accounts within an assigned territory. The Regional Sales Manager will be responsible for meeting and exceeding targeted sales volume for the entire portfolio of power transmission products offered by NIDEC-SHIMPO, with emphasis on the high precision servo product families and engineered gearmotor assemblies. This strategic position requires the ability to manage and grow a large geographic region, and to influence buying decisions at different levels of an organization. As business expands, the Regional Sales Manager may be responsible for hiring and managing direct (NIDEC-SHIMPO Sales Engineer) and indirect (manufacturer’s rep) sales personnel. MUST BE LOCATED ON THE WEST COAST – RELOCATION NOT AVAILABLE.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote sales of the high precision gearing product line in a defined geographical territory, with emphasis on finding and developing new machine builder accounts. Travel roughly 40% of the time.
  • Increase market share and exceed established sales targets by calling on a select group of OEM, distributor and strategic end user accounts. Maintain a high level of activity through phone, email communications and in-person meetings in order to retain visibility throughout the assigned region.
  • Establish and grow relationships within prospective clients’ engineering, purchasing, sales and management organizations. Continuously assess and communicate how NIDEC-SHIMPO can meet their needs.
  • Develop and implement a strategic sales and marketing plan for the region. Determine appropriate channel strategy for short and long term projects based on size and scope. Prioritize A, B and C accounts based on present and potential dollars of revenue/profits, cost to sell and service and probability of success.
  • Identify and qualify legitimate sales opportunities. Negotiate pricing, delivery, warranty and other contractual terms and conditions as part of a commercial sales proposal. Collaborate with internal engineering resources on opportunities requiring a solution outside of the standard offering.
  • Responsible for learning all NIDEC-SHIMPO, 3rd party and competing products and their target applications as needed for conducting effective sales activities
  • Represent the company at various trade shows, conferences and distributor events. Provide training where necessary.
  • Evaluate major issues and opportunities relative to products, quality, service and performance, offering alternative solutions for both directing and support functions. Manage channel conflicts within the region.
  • Assist in the development of marketing materials, including presentations, product literature and web content to obtain maximum exposure to the target market.
  • Advise the channel and company management on market conditions.
  • Complete timely and accurate reports, including key account activity, sales forecasts, quote pipeline and expenses.
  • Utilize CRM heavily to track accounts, contacts and opportunities.
  • If applicable, hire and manage direct (Nidec-Shimpo Sales Engineer) and indirect (manufacturer’s representative) sales personnel. Properly train and travel with personnel. Set sales goals and monitor activity. Delegate tasks as needed.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ME or EE) or Marketing/Business Administration combined with at least three years of industrial automation sales experience.
  • Demonstrated success in developing a territory and achieving sales goals. Three or more years of direct sales to large OEMs and motion control distributors.
  • Strong technical background in the motion control industry, including the function and usage of servomotors, precision gearboxes and/or other ancillary motion control products.
  • Solid understanding of servo system sizing (mechanical and electrical), with the ability to guide a customer to the best solution.
  • Eagerness and desire to work with the startup of a fairly new product line.
  • Dedication to increasing sales and improving profitability by developing positive business relationships
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities utilizing modern technology—preferably a paperless approach to organization. Ability to multitask and prioritize customer requests, completing them in a timely manner
  • Fluent English both spoken and written; good communication skills. Ability to interact with persons of all levels of staff and management and diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent attention to detail and consistency.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Willing to learn new software (CRM, ERP) as needed.
  • Use of discretion, judgment and confidentiality as required.

 

 


 

ASSEMBLER (various skill levels)

We are looking for assemblers with variety of skill levels. Goal is to produce outputs by putting together smaller and larger components. The overall responsibility is to assist in day to day operations, working with an assortment of tools and machinery to make or repair products and parts for distribution. Some mechanical assemble skills are required but will also train. Ability to read and interpret drawings and diagrams, and examines connections for correct fit. Additional training may be required for assembling various parts.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Read and comprehend instructions and follow established procedures
  • Positions parts and sub-assemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
  • Use tools to make or repair parts and products.
  • Gathering and cleaning parts.
  • Building gear reducers sub-assembling with adapters
  • Building gears from parts, testing gears reducers., painting gears reducers
  • Align material and put together parts to build more complex units
  • Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and sub-assemblies.
  • Work with other members of the line or group in order to assemble products.
  • Meet all safety requirements of the company and industry.
  • Ability to use reason to solve problems as they arise.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks to confirm that assembled products meet specifications and quality standards
  • Identify any product defects; record and report them accordingly.
  • Rework and repair assembled gears products according to engineering specification changes
  • Ensure that equipment is operational by handling preventative maintenance, performing regular quality checks, and calling for repairs when necessary
  • Notify Lead Assembler in the event that there is a problem with the assembly and help come up with solutions.
  • Utilize hand held tools such as a hand held screw and drill gun
  • Listen to directions from Lead Assembler.
  • Resolves assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying Lead Assembler to obtain additional resources.
  • Performing warehouse inventory controls and keeping quality standards high for audits
  • Marking and labeling stock.
  • Storing inventory in accessible manner.
  • Preparing orders by processing requests, pulling orders, packing boxes and transporting packages to the shipping area and print labels,
  • Wrapping and banding outgoing shipments on pallets.
  • Building loads with forklift and pallet jack.
  • Loading and unloading delivery vehicles when needed.
  • Assume other responsibilities as necessary and directed.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

 

Prerequisite Qualifications:

  • 1-5 years proven experience as assembler
  • Minimum high school education.
  • Good English communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent attention to detail and consistency.
  • Ability to work on many projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks and customer requests in order to complete by required customer dates.
  • Ability to interact with Company and customer personnel at all levels
  • Strong organizational skills and follow-through.
  • Initiative and desire to contribute to the overall Company goals through a leadership role.
  • Ability to operate various hand tools and equipment to include a computer and hand truck.
  • Requires ability to pass forklift operator course and drive a forklift.
  • Regularly possess manual dexterity to put parts or gear reducer together quickly and accurately
  • Painting skill
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical condition
  • Good understanding of quality control
  • Technical knowledge and ability to read drawings
  • A comprehensive understanding of manufacturing is required in order to ensure everything is built to the proper specifications.

The overall responsibility is to assist in day to day operations, prepares orders by processing requests and supply orders; pulling materials; packing boxes; placing orders in delivery area and storing inventory in accessible manner.
